Let me preface by saying I am a proud new owner of a MacBook Pro. Could not deal with my companies Win laptops anymore. Here is the problem: - I can connect from home via my old IBM laptop to my company'a VPN (both via wifi and ethernet). I cannot connect to the VPN via my Mac (nor am I able to do so using my wife's Mac). Click the small plus (+) icon in the bottom left of the window to add a connection. In the Interface drop down menu, select VPN. You'll also see a VPN Type drop down menu. Click and select L2TP over IPSec.
I have a Macbook Pro running Mavericks. I connect to my work server, from home, through a vpn client called NetExtender, published by SonicWall (Dell). Worked like a charm on my Macbook Pro until I changed my router from an old airport extreme to a Netgear R7000. Now it does not work. It shows a connection, but no information is being exchanged (sent and received bytes stays the same). Here are some other facts. I borrowed a work dell laptop running windows 8, and using the same VPN client software (windows version, obviously). Brought it home and sat it next to the Macbook Pro and logged into my Netgear R7000. The borrowed Dell works just fine, and logs right into my work server using the VPN client. Also, when I hook the Macbook Pro directly to the router via ethernet, it still does not work. But when I hook it up directly to the modem, bypassing the Netgear router, the VPN client works and I'm able to log into work.

I'm stuck. Any thoughts?
